The Faculty of Arts and Humanities offers numerous optional courses for the spring semester, available to both our students and all other students at the University of Tartu.

Call for applications for Three Rectors’ Scholarship competition 2025/26 is now open
All full-time students of the University of Tartu, the University of Latvia and Vilnius University may apply for the 2,000-euro scholarship if their proficiency in one of the Baltic countries’ languages is at least at C1 level and in the other two languages at least at A2 level. Visiting international students who study at one of the three universities in both semesters of this academic year may also apply.
Graduate School of Humanities (HUMA) Autumn School 2025
The 10th conference will take place on the 27th–28th of November at the University of Tartu Library.

University of Tartu and Estonian Maritime Museum join forces to support new generation of researchers of maritime history and heritage
The Estonian Maritime Museum and the University of Tartu Foundation have created a scholarship fund to popularise the research of Estonian maritime history and maritime heritage. Each year, one person will get a 7,500-euro scholarship.

Australian inclusive education expert gives guest lecture on 14 strategies for student engagement
On May 20, from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m., Associate Professor Ingrid Harrington from the University of New England, Australia will hold a guest lecture at University of Tartu on the award-winning project “Commencing Student Success Project”. The project provides 14 strategies aimed at helping all students feel supported at university and enhancing their academic success.
The Night Library Welcomes Late-Night Learners Once Again
From 19 May to 6 June, the university library will once again be open for studying until midnight. In addition to extended opening hours, a range of activities will take place during the Night Library period.

Writer Viivi Luik is University of Tartu’s next Professor of Liberal Arts
Next academic year, the professorship of liberal arts will be held by poet, children’s author and prosaist Viivi Luik.
International student conference "Bridges in the Baltics"
Undergraduate, graduate and doctoral students from universities in the Baltic countries, including the University of Tartu, are invited to an international student conference ”Bridges in the Baltics“, held at the University of Latvia in Riga from 9 to 10 October 2025. Conference abstracts can be sent until 30 June 2025.
