Guest Lecture on Ancient Dental Calculus and Archaeology

On 18 January at 16:15 Dr. Anita Radini  (Assistant Professor, University College Dublin) will give a guest lecture (Jakobi 2-213) on ancient dental calculus and archaeology.

Ancient Dental Calculus and Archaeology

Dental calculus, also known as tartar, is becoming an important line of evidence in Archaeology. Its biomineralized matrix can preserve a wide range of particles and molecules as evidence of people's environments, life, and health. This lecture will contextualise dental calculus research in archaeology, its potential and its limitations. It will give a solid understanding of why this substrate on teeth is subject to so much attention from scholars.

You can follow the lecture on Zoom (Meeting ID: 995 3923 2631; Passcode: 875263)
